Fresh Find: The Story of Jo by Justine Elyot

With fierce desire growing between the three of them, can they find a way to explore this new dynamic without destroying what they already have?

Phew! With a blurb like that, I had to host Justine Elyot’s new book on my blog. I love it when a story examines infidelity and multiple partnerings. Such psychology, such exploration of deep human needs. My mother would have a conniption!

Justine’s on tour right now. Here’s today’s lowdown on her new book, The Story of Jo, with an Amazon gift card giveaway at the end:

In Heat

Hello, I’m Justine Elyot and I’m here to tell you about my new BDSM menage romance, The Story of Jo.

The other day on Twitter somebody asked for recommendations of books set in autumn, and it proved surprisingly difficult to find any. I was surprised – autumn seems to be so many people’s favourite season, with the internet full of pumpkin lantern and falling leaf images pretty much as soon as August is over with.

Summer seems to have the opposite effect. Twitter moans about it constantly, yet so many, MANY books have summer settings – and mine is one of them.

There are all sorts of reasons for this. For me, it means you can have your characters getting up to all kinds of everything out of doors. Scanty clothing, exposed skin, that languid, heavy, heated feeling that leads to either sex or sleep (hopefully out of the sun’s full glare). And summer means holidays, and holidays mean relaxation and the loosening of tension.

For poor Emmett, though, it means severe sunburn. How will Jo and Charles cope without him? Here’s a taster.

“I’ll tell you what I think you should do,” said Emmett.

“What?”

“Go into his bedroom right now and fuck him senseless.”

“What? Are you serious?”

“Totally. But I want you to film it for me, so I can watch it tonight. It’ll get me in the mood for the outrageously kinky threesome I plan to be fit for by the end of the week.”

“You are actually serious!”

“Yes. Don’t you want to?”

“I…could…be persuaded, I suppose.” I laughed, a bit shrilly. We were through the looking glass now.

“Then let me persuade you. Go in there, totally naked, and get him to tie you up and use you. I’ll be able to hear everything if you leave the door a little bit open. It’ll take the edge off my invalid boredom. Go on, Jo. I’m begging you.”

“Oh God. Totally naked?”

“Or in some sexy, skimpy thing. Whatever. Just indulge me in this.”

We kissed again, a kiss that conferred whatever the kissing equivalent of Dutch courage is, and I went to the bathroom to freshen up. I dabbed some of my muskiest shimmery perfume oil on my pulse points, put on a long diaphanous robe to pretend I wasn’t naked, although in reality everything was clearly visible, and came out of the ensuite to display myself to Emmett.

“Perfect,” he sighed. “You can wear that again when I’m back to normal.”

“I promise I will,” I said.

“Now go.”

In the corridor between the bedroom doors, I was attacked by shyness. The open door of our bedroom was so inviting, so comforting…I could just go back and hide out with Emmett for the rest of the day.

My nerves got the better of me, and I took refuge in the kitchen, using the assembly of a fruit salad and the brewing of coffee as displacement activities. But when this was done, I could delay no longer.

I put the fruit and coffee on a tray and knocked at Fox’s door.

Confused mumbling from the other side betrayed his sudden waking.

I opened the door.

“Maid service,” I said brightly, walking carefully across the various rugs dotting the tiled floor.

I put the tray down on the bedside table and smiled nervously at him.

He had shot up into a sitting position, his eyes switching from sleepy to glittery in the time it had taken me to approach.

“What’s this?” he demanded, reaching out for me. “Come here.”

I stepped within range; he pulled me unceremoniously on to the bed beside him and pinned me to the mattress in an urgent, hot-breathed kiss.

“What are you playing at, minx?” he murmured, once I was well and truly tangled in him and the bedsheets. “Blowing hot and cold.”

“I take it you prefer hot?” I panted.

“Scalding,” he said. “What do you think you’re doing, coming in here in that obscene dressing gown? You know what you’re asking for, don’t you?”

I nodded. “I’m begging for it,” I said.

“Christ.” He ground into me, his tongue snaking down my throat in another intense kiss. “You can’t do this to me.” He shut his eyes and groaned, his hand on his forehead. “And I can’t do this to Emmett.”

“Can’t you?”

He shook his head, flopping on to his back beside me.

“I drank the best part of a bottle of cognac after you left me last night,” he confessed. “I think I’m only alive now because I drank two jugs of water before sleeping. And I decided, after my sixth glass, or it might have been my seventh, that I was going to let you go, and have another crack at finding someone of my own. I have too much love and respect for the pair of you to…”

“It’s all right,” I said. “Emmett knows. This is his idea.”

Blurb:

I met a man called Emmett, and now I belong to him.

Twenty-something Jo meets Emmett on a team-building course, and her initial disdain for him soon turns into attraction.

With Emmett’s strong but loving hand to guide her, Jo unleashes her inner submissive and they embark on an intense voyage of sexual discovery.

Their mutual fascination sees them exploring bondage, spanking, toys and more, and their romance is as perfect as Jo could hope for, until another man appears on the scene.

She knows that Emmett hero-worships his former boss and mentor, Charles, but when she finds out that Charles is the man who introduced Emmett to the art of domination, she has no idea how to feel.

With fierce desire growing between the three of them, can they find a way to explore this new dynamic without destroying what they already have?
